Different Carriers:
There are several different carriers, and choosing one can be overwhelming at first. So I will start by giving you the main types of carriers. There are wraps, slings, tie-on, and structured carriers.
Wraps: Wraps are a length of fabric used to tie baby onto you. There are stretchy wraps, (good for newborns) and woven wraps (more supportive/versatile and good for children as old as 5 years)
Wraps in general have a little bit of a learning curve. Though, they are very comfortable and extremely versatile; Wraps can be worn in many different positions. The most common brand is the Moby Wrap, but you do not have to pay that much. Since it is simply a length of stretchy fabric, (preferably Jersey Knit Cotton) one can easily make their own. There are also different Etsy shops that sell them. **Important note: stretchy wraps are NOT safe for back carries. (Nor should they be used for "crotch dangling")
Slings: Slings are carriers that go over one shoulder. The benefits of slings are that they tend to take less time to put on. There are ring slings, which are adjustable, and pouch slings, which are to be bought according to size. (are not adjustable; the benefit being quick to put on)

Tie-On Carriers: I would describe these carriers to be a mix between wraps and structured carries. They are soft and portable like wraps. Though they function more like structured carriers, just without buckles. The most common name fir these carriers are mei-tai carriers. These carriers work well for babies and toddlers. Example:

Structured Carriers: Structured carriers are probably the most "masculine-friendly" carrier. They are carriers with buckles and straps, and usually are adjustable. The most common brands you will hear are Ergo and Beco. But there are a variety of other (good) brands: Boba, Patapum, Pikkolo.
